long weekend!!!

Weather - rainy Saturday, sunny and 17 degrees Sunday and Monday.
Mood-  mostly upbeat, touch of hyper seasoned with a dash of attitude.
Friday-  nothing to speak of.

Saturday.

It all started out sort of weird.  Like a nightmare dream.
When I woke up I was handed a cup of coffee (which is always nice) and told not to leave my room.
Kamo and I spent some time drinking our beverages and "playing sleep"
While I was relaxing I was handed a pair of glasses that had "40" on them.
I was getting confused, and then I was allowed out and there were all these crazy decorations.
It was like they were trying to tell me something, and now the weekend is over and I'm still not quite sure what it is.

No matter.  I got through the maze of hanging "40's" and the banners and was treated to a delicious breakfast, followed by gifts.

The rest of the day was rainy, we did get a brief break where we went out and played some basketball and rollerbladed.

 sporting their new haircuts.

2 wonderful cooks

Sunday.

took the kids and tried fishing.
once again went home empty.

so we went to Goldstream Park for a weenie roast.

Monday.

Spent our day at home and had a blast.
We climbed trees.

tried fishing from our boat.  (still no luck)

and ran through the sprinkler until our teeth started chattering.

A good start to summer.
Wouldn't have changed a thing.
Good times with my awesome family.

Mother's Day.

I had a wonderful day!!  Mother's Day is not a vacation, a time to sit back, but more a time to celebrate your kids.  Heck, without them you would not be able to celebrate this day.  You wouldn't be getting your card heavy with glue, the ceramic thingie a ma gig that needs some explaining, breakfast ala mess, or whatever your day may bring.  I made sandwiches today, I wiped counters and bums, I refereed some fights and dealt with some heavy issues.  It's not my day off.  Life keeps on going.  And I'm not saying these things because I some amazing Supermom and I know all and do all.  OH NO!!!
But what I am saying is that being a Mom is all these things, and more.  And sometimes it just can't take a day off, even if the calender says it's Mother's Day and Hallmark says to buy a card.
But yes I had a wonderful day.  I love my kids.  I was treated with waffles topped with strawberries and whip cream, we had a wonderful hike up Mount Douglas, a game of basketball until the rain sent us inside, dinner and dessert and so many hugs and kisses I lost count.  And the added bonus of the very first Mother's Day for me and my 2 wonderful boys.
I am thankful today for my kids.  They are all unique individuals who keep my on my toes.  They all are full of life and love and we are knit together in a such a special way.
Happy Mother's Day.

a day at the beach.

we were blessed today with a beautiful summer day.
taking advantage of this we went to the beach for a fun afternoon.
Ret and Kamo have not been to the beach before, and when we had the ocean in sight Ret stopped.
"I'm nervous.  Feel my heart."  It was pounding SO Hard!!!"
As we walked down the steps to the beach I reassured him that I would not take him somewhere that was "extremely dangerous."
Kamo entered the area with a serious look on his face.  No smile, just observing.

Kamo's new shoes, he refused to take them off.
This is as far into the water as he would go.

Mister Brave.
he was so scared of the seaweed.

on their way to catch some crabs.

they found 4 good sized crabs.
they were not harmed during this photo shoot.
they were gently released back into the water.

In the end I had to pull Ret out of the water against his will.
He was loving it.  Running and "swimming" (he's had one lesson he's telling me he can swim)
He conquered his fear in no time.
Kamo was happy with his dump truck in the sand.
Willow dug her usual hole.
Sundee met a new friend, her mini-me and was a good sport in entertaining her.
