For the past 13 years as a mom with school age kids, and now as their homeschool teacher, my year starts in the fall when the new school year starts. With the change in the weather, the new crisp air, it prompts the thought of starting fresh.
So I have thought about this new school year of 2016-2017 and my word is….
DAMN / DAM
A dam is a barrier used to prevent and protect us from floods. It is also used to produce energy. Depending on how you utilize it, the potential is enormous and important. If misused or broken it can cause great destruction and mayhem.
So Damn! This school year will be great. We will dam up the water (energy) that is causing flooding and destruction and redirect them for a greater purpose. The purpose to survive, to achieve, the reach our highest potential.
and….. as I am a very structured person I will say damn to the rules, and embrace freedom. Kick it up a bit. Have a dance party in the middle of the day. Change up the schedule. (Yikes!!! this sounds crazy.)
So here's to a damn good school year of 2016-2017!!
(*side note. I will not damn the curriculum or the teaching of all things important)
